O my Lord, Your holy name alone can render all benediction to living beings, and thus You have hundreds and millions of names like Krishna and Govinda. In these transcendental names You have invested all Your transcendental energies. There are not even hard and fast rules for chanting these names. O my Lord, out of kindness You enable us to easily approach You by chanting Your holy names, but I am so unfortunate that I have no attraction for them.
A small but amazing incident I want to share with you all. This happened on, 4th September 2008.
It was 8 pm and my husband had not arrived from office yet. He had to make question papers for students' final exam so I thought of going to him and helping him. When I reached the office I found my husband not making questions but talking to an American teacher. He was talking about his life and his belief in god.
My husband used to talk about this teacher as he was quite distressed and used to share his feelings with him. He was expressing how good and bad things happen in life and he has gone through a lot of things. Yesterday I also got chance to hear from him. We started talking about law of karma and whatever we get is the result of our activities.
Then the teacher said with tears in his eyes" Well I have not been so bad to be treated like this. Life is treating me like hell, So much of distress and calamities on my life now."
Antaranga Prabhu said " May be not this life but past life"
He said" hum...Could be"
Then Antaranga Prabhu started explaining about the cycle of birth and death, law of karma, the three types of karma(karma , vikarma and akarma). Then he started saying that his wife is terribly sick and he loves his wife so much. He has some healing power but he cannot heal her. He then said now he has realised that he has some power but he's not all powerful. God is all powerful, and he is supreme controller. Since our friend agreed on this point we thought of giving him the all powerful mantra :-). We gave him Hare krishna mahamantra and asked him to chant everyday. He said he does not know how to do it. Then we all chanted together once.
Trying to give him importance of Mahamantra, I said "This Mantra is very powerful. Just once you chant, you may not feel but...."
He cut me in between and said convinced " It already did, I can feel it, I felt something just once I chanted, its something amazing, Yes I could feel it."
We were speechless.
We thought of chanting 5 more times to let him experience krishna 5 more times ;-). But he went on and on, for more than 25 times... and there we were 9:30 pm inside Q Building 5th floor chanting hare krishna maha mantra intensely with a physics teacher.
Then he smiled and said "Can I sing this mantra" We were more than happy to see smile on his face after chanting so powerfully. He sang hare krishna in his own tune swaying his hands as if he was playing a Guitar. We talking about George Harrsion and his song "My sweet lord", he jumped with excitement saying he has heard him singing hare krishna in the song. Seeing so much love on his face, while he sang "My sweet lord" ,I was completely satisfied and was thanking Lord Chaitanya to be so merciful, thanking Srila Prabhupada for distributing this supreme happiness to everyone.
Now he has promised to chant Hare krishna Mahamantra everyday.
And after getting this highest taste how can anyone forget the all attractive lord, krishna, our sweet lord krishna. When we have all the material comforts we are so puffed up that we dont have the sincerety to surrender to krishna. We think whatever comforts we have is because of us, our hardwork. So to make us understand that its not us its him, the distress we have is actually a kind blessing from the lord. What is the use of all the material degrees and qualities if it is not used for his service? How long can we last happy without him?
So lets try to be sincere and humbly serve our lord, chanting sincerely and attentively, not just to finish off our rounds but to actually CHANT, and develop love of god for our sweet lord. Let us strive everyday to develop little more attachment to our dear lord than the day before, lets thank him for engaging us in his glorious movement, Sankirtan movement. And lets try our best to let everyone get love of our dear, sweet lord.
LEts try to serve Srila Prabhupada by giving Hare krishna maha mantra to whoever we meet.
PRAYERS OF QUEEN KUNTI to lord Sri Krishna
SB 1.8.24: My dear Kṛṣṇa, Your Lordship has protected us from a poisoned cake, from a great fire, from cannibals, from the vicious assembly, from sufferings during our exile in the forest and from the battle where great generals fought. And now You have saved us from the weapon of Aśvatthāmā.
SB 1.8.25: I wish that all those calamities would happen again and again so that we could see You again and again, for seeing You means that we will no longer see repeated births and deaths.
SB 1.8.26: My Lord, Your Lordship can easily be approached, but only by those who are materially exhausted. One who is on the path of [material] progress, trying to improve himself with respectable parentage, great opulence, high education and bodily beauty, cannot approach You with sincere feeling.
